Yeah just to say im going to be giving my assesment in the form of a powerpoint. this is for a few resons.

1) It is easier for me to show how i have followed the design cycle and also to show which units i have used.
2) it is easier for the tutors to follow and to find what they need to see.
3) I can prepare for my assesment now.
4) if need be i can also use it as A *Critique?* for my key skills....?

yeah so im doing that. cant hurt to try anyway.

Well I'm off college at home sick. don't worry i don't think its swine flu. but this is as good a time as any to do some photography research. I'm looking at Ansel Adams for his spectacular detail. I know the brief is time but i think that the amount of time you can spend looking at the photos without getting bored is quite amazing.

Ive also decided that i would like to do some drawn stop motion for my projects. so im gonna do a bit more research and sketches/examples.

and also im thinking of experimenting with ink drippings so im gonna research that a bit to.

So Weve got the new project and its time. and im looking to do a few things with timelapse. mainly because i think it look effect and its simple to do. the negatives are its TIME consuming and can be expensive if using video. (the price of DV tapes.) a good site i have seen is:

But this is all going in my logbook. im trying to justify timelapse as a camera technique because you have to keep the camera perfectly still for long periods of time. hmmm.

OK well from today The Chris Moyles Breakfast show is now the longest running on BBC Radio 1, It has taken Tony Blackburns previous title of 5 years 9 months. Though I'm not a huge fan, i will listen to it on the way to college & work. And Ive been thinking what makes the show so successfull, I think its a down to the shows format. initially i thought it was the likability of the DJ, but then thought they would have to be likable to be employed. So Here's a breakdown of the Format:

The Show begins at 6:30 am, and finishes at 10 am.

Its a Comedy mostly and talk show,
But there is not that much audience participation, as they never accept calls.
Their is frequent celebrity guests.
And current pop music

I feel that the show is a happy medium that is suitible for most ages. and congradulations.

The kids Love those stickers

Considering I'm on a roll tonight, I'm going to write another blog about stickers as a medium. Stickers work well for a lot of reasons i think, Firstly they can be applied anywhere. Secondly they can portray any message. Thirdly kids love to collect use and distribute them. I know this because i bought 100 "hello my name is" stickers from monstercolors.com

And distributed them at Mikes 18th Birthday and people loved them. They are also a great medium for Graffiti/street artists because they are the quickest form of art to use on scene.

and they can be very Popular as i wrote in my last blog about the Andre the Giant Stickers.

Andre the Giant Has a Posse

Was a sticker campaign done by Shepard Fairey in 1989 whilst he was attending college. This has since become one of the most successfully sticker campaigns in history and is widely respected in the graffiti community. but despite being a street artist/VANDAL, he gained even more popularity doing a poster campaign for US President Barack Obama. Which i find quite funny because Fairey has been arrested 14 times.

He also has done artwork for the new Led Zepplin Album Mothership. I really like his simple artwork and the effectiveness of it. The bold colours grab your attention and the simplicity makes sure you get the message straight away,

He is pretty cool

Modern Poetry

Lately Ive been thinking about poetry. The most poetry young people get these days is during their English GCSE. But what about modern poetry or a lack of it, most poetry done by creative youngsters, would probably be considered rap or hip hop, and rejected by older generations. though their is a small group of people doing something about, spoken word groups and artists, act as an inspiration for the younger generations. with such things as Scroobius pips spoken word surgery, which was on Colin Murray's radio 1 show. I think that Poetry is just as evocative as Music, but the topics just don't appeal to younger generations.

effects of the credit crunch on advertising.

I have been thinking about the different effects that the credit crunch has had on the advertising industry and in the many different aspects. one positive aspect is it would give the up and coming advertising companys a better chance, as they would be cheaper than a more established advertising company. giving them a chance. another aspect is that the credit crunch can be used in adverts themselfs, when companys may not have changed but if the advert is assosciated with the credit crunch people may go with it to save themselfs money.

hmmm just a few thoughts any way.

This is a poster by artist Michael Motorcycle i really like the style this artist uses. and particularly the Victorian style he uses in his poster, and the intricate detail. it really grabs my attention and would definatly attract me to read the poster if i saw it in the street. it looks like it was handdrawn and coloured on the computer.

Bear grylls Born Faker

Recently Ive been housebound, due to a car crash and then a dislocated knee cap. And i have taken to watching documentaries. one Ive found to be particular interesting is Bear Grylls born survivor, Their has been some controversy and criticism as the show frequently portrays bear in situations that make him seem alone or unhelped. the very fact that he is being filmed, and its not just amature footage shows he is not alone. it frequently shows helicopter angle shots and artistic panning shots. their is always about 5-20 people on set. there are some instances which have been proven fake and acknowledged such as:

Grylls was shown trying to ride "wild" horses that were in fact tame, and had been hired from a trekking station nearby.

That Grylls had drank his own urine while "stranded" in a desert

That Grylls stayed at a crew base-camp in the Costa Rican jungle, while giving viewers the impression that he was alone.

though despite these things i still think that this is a good show. because it has an element that other shows don't have such as Ray Mears bush craft survival. which is danger, even if it may not be real danger its still danger on TV and this along with the exciting music causing excitement.

So the summer project is here. i have a few ideas about thing I'm interested in. Ive been traveling alot this summer so i will make a few collages, also i have been watching a few kinds of documentary, including bear grylls and wondering whether his show is deceitful by portraying he is alone. also i am interested in graffiti and guerrilla art forms

After reading, Listening to radio plays: fictional soundscapes, an article by Alan E. Beck. I listened to the latest episode of the archers dated 24.07.09. and immediately felt transformed to a farmers kitchen in the fictional county of Borsetshire. this is established like Beck said by the small introducing sounds such as the telephone text and a kettle boiling. I found the radio play to be very similar to a book in such a sense that, you imagine what the characters look like, and its your own world, the points were all touched on by Beck.
